Many festivals are held throughout the year in the town of Chiryu, nurtured by history and traditions. Here are some typical festivals.
Muryojuji Temple
Yatsuhashi Irises in the Tale of Ise is in full bloom in the sixteen ponds of the circuit-style garden. During the festival period, various events are held, such as photography events and tea ceremonies.
Chiryu Shrine
Five floats are lined-up for main festivals held every other year. Joruri puppet shows and Karakuri Dolls, which are designated important intangible folklore cultural assets, are performed on the floats. Furthermore, colorful floral floats parade through the city on interval festivals. The main festival will be held in 2008.
Outer Garden of Chiryu Shrine
Sixty types and 30,000 bulbs of colorful Japanese Irises in Chiryu Park, which were donated by the imperial Meiji Shrine, are in full bloom. During the festival period, various fun events are held, such as photography events and tea ceremonies.
In the vicinity of Chiryu Station
We plan to hold festivals in which increasingly more citizens can easily participate, with “participation by every citizen” as the slogan.
