An Icelandic art festival was held at the Chiryu Cultural Hall from the 14th (Thursday) to 17th (Sunday).
On the first day (14th), an opening concert was held at a hotel in the city to celebrate the opening of the festival.
Leading roles of the opening concert were the two school choirs.
A total of 58 people from Skálholt Cathedral Choir (right in the picture) and Kársness School Choir (lower part in the picture) presented Iceland traditional chorus.
In addition to Icelandic folk songs, the children sang Japanese songs. When they began singing “Natsu-no-omoide” and “Sakura Sakura,” some participants in the hall sang the songs together. It was a heart-warming concert.
The choirs stayed in the city for a week. The members of the choirs interacted with children in Chiryu not only at the concert but also at many other places.
