
On the national day of July 15th (Friday), Halldór Ásgrímsson, the Prime Minister of Iceland, was welcomed at the Expo dome of Nagakute assembly hall, and a ceremony and events for the national day were held.

On that day, 359 citizens from Chiryu were there for the national day. Participating citizens included 137 junior high school students, a cheering group of 163 citizens, 59 local officials and related parties.

Opening concert held after the welcome ceremony: The two school choirs, Caput Music Ensemble and Icelandic Super Jazz Quartet, played together.
Contemporary music composed for the EXPO called Echo (Kodama) was played.

On that day, the support base of 137 junior high school students from Chiryu was invited to the Nordic hall and received an explanation of the display.
The EXPO doom with a capacity of about 2,500 people was filled with supporting groups from Chiryu and other visitors. Iceland is quite popular in Japan.
