Declaration of the City of Lifelong Learning

Chiryu City provides areas throughout the city where people can engage in activities related to lifelong learning, and further promotes and encourages every citizen to participate in lifelong learning based on the principle of a “Meaningful Life, Interaction, and Discovery: Lifelong Learning in Chiryu City.”

1. We will establish “A Town of Lifelong Learning” so that every citizen will have his/her own future image (My Life Plan) to select and engage in materializing the Plan.

2. As society ages and fewer babies are born, we will promote to develop active community/town based on the sense of common bonds as citizens.

3. Taking into consideration the execution of a five-day school week system, we will promote a community where children can participate in various activities without any restrictions and in which people can interact with each other.

4. We will develop learning-based activities that respond to current problems throughout life in this complex, diversified society using advanced technology and developed informatization.

5. We aim to establish a learning society in which anyone can learn anytime and anywhere throughout life, having the learning results properly evaluated to make good use of them in the community.
