Method of meter inspections in mid- to high-rise housing (e.g., condominiums)

[2008年2月18日]

Meter inspections for mid- to high-rise housing are preformed as described below.

1. Main meter + individual meters at every door
Meters owned by the city are placed at every door, a meter inspector reads both the main meter and each meter at every door, and then charges each door for the used amount recorded in both meters.

2. Main meter + remote meter
The city reads the main meters and remote meters (privately owned) and then charges each door for the used amount recorded in both meters.

3. Main meter only
The city reads the main meter and charges a lump sum based on the used amount recorded in the main meter.

4. Main meter + private meter
The city reads the main meter and a management association or the like reads the private meters of each door. The city charges the management association for the used amount recorded in the main meter.

If making payments for a common tap, please report any changes in the number of users (e.g., due to residents moving out) using a special form.

Switching from a main meter to reading individual meters on each door (as mentioned above in No. 1) can be done if the costs for the change are borne by the management association. For more information, please contact a certified plumber (the city had performed inspections and operations before but stopped performing such functions in 2006).
