Ushida Castle was constructed during the Tenmon Era (1532–1555) during the Sengoku Period (period of Civil War). It was constructed by General Masaoki Ushida, the feudal shogun leader, under an order from Mizuno Tadamasa, a Samurai lord, who held the Kariya castle.
It has been said that Ushida Castla fell when Imagawa Yoshimoto invaded the castle in the 3rd year of Eiroku, or it ended up being deserted after he died. Ushida Masaoki played an important part in this battle with Imagawa.
Now, a stone monument stands at the castle site, surrounded by a quiet residential area.
