
Meiji Yosui, Nishiisuji opened in the 14th year of the Meiji Period (1881).
Then canal was built simply by excavating the ground. It was later reinforced as a concrete canal. Now, it has become a pipe channel. It was designed to be developed over the pipe channel as a “green street of a canal”, demonstrating a visible canal “sound of stream/pond” by using the water of Meiji Yosui.
Nishiisuji walking trail extends 3.8 km through only the city of Chiryu. The picture shows only one section of it.
