Alien registration

• Within 90 days from the date of landing (not including the day of arrival)
• Within 60 days from the date of birth (not including the date of birth)

• Applicant in person
• For children under the age of 16, a person who has authority to represent him/her (live-in family members or persons who live in the same household)

• Passport (if owned)

• Two photos (age at least 16 years old)

Replacement of registration certificate

• When the certificate is damaged or soiled
• When there is no room left in the certificate for additional information
• When you have applied to change your name or nationality.
• When you have corrected your name, date of birth, gender, and nationality

• Applicant in person
• For children under the age of 16, a person who has authority to represent him/her (live-in family members or persons who live in the same household)

• Registration certificate

• Passport (if owned)

• Two photos (age at least 16 years old)

Reissuance of registration certificate

• Within 14 days from the day you noticed that the certificate has been missing, stolen, or lost.

• Applicant in person
• For children under the age of 16, a person who has authority to represent him/her (live-in family members or persons who live in the same household)

• Passport (if owned)

• Two photos (age at least 16 years old)

Confirmation of information in the registration certificate (replacement)

• Within 30 days from the specified date

• Applicant in person
• Proxy (in case the applicant is suffering from illness or injury and is incapable of applying in person)

• Registration certificate (if owned)

• Two photos (age at least 16 years old)

Changes in domicile (moving-into the city/moving out of the city)

Change in registered information other than domicile

Within 14 days from the date of relocation

• Within 14 days: change of name, nationality, occupancy (not including permanent residents and special permanent residents), qualification to stay in Japan, period of stay, employer
• Until application for the first time after the change in domicile: address in your country of nationality, passport number, date of issuance of passport, name of the household head, relationship with the household head, information regarding family

• Applicant in person
• Person who has authority to represent him/her (live-in family members)

• Registration certificate

• Passport

• Documents proving the change
